Facebook Announces TWO Changes that Affect News Feed Rankings

We all know things have a way of changing quickly with online marketing; social media being no exception. Changes are a part of this technology world and we have to remain flexible and learn to ebb and flow with the various twists and turn. With that being said, I needed to get this blog out to update a post from a week or so ago.

Recently I shared a blog post regarding the 5 different ways to share content Five Ways to Share Content . In that blog post I featured a link update and photo demonstrating how to add a link to your update.

As fate would have it, on August 25th, Facebook made an announcement on their blog about two changes which will affect your Facebook update rankings in the news feed. One of the changes was in regarding to click-baiting and the other on sharing links in posts. I have included the link to the Facebook blog announcing the changes here: http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2014/08/news-feed-fyi-click-baiting/

Apparently they no longer want us to share links in status updates or in the text caption above photos. Claiming “they’ve found users prefer to click on links that are displayed in the link format rather than links that are buried in photo captions.” Whether this is actually the case or not, at least they are giving us a warning shot across the bow that they will “prioritize showing links in the link-format, and show fewer links shared in captions or status updates.” I have included a photo below of the one I used in my post and indicated what you need to avoid:
